Mei Lai Wah
美麗華 — The Iconic Hong Kong Bakery
Handmade char siu buns baked golden every morning. Dim sum crafted fresh daily. A Chinatown institution beloved by generations of New Yorkers and visitors alike.
Our Story
A Chinatown Landmark Since 1968
Founded by Taishanese immigrants, Mei Lai Wah began as a small neighborhood bakery and grew into one of New York City's most celebrated culinary institutions.
Over more than five decades, we have preserved the same handmade techniques and authentic Hong Kong flavors that made us famous — from our signature char siu buns to freshly prepared dim sum and classic Cantonese café drinks.
In recent years we expanded to a larger home on Mott Street, bringing more of Chinatown's community together under one roof while honoring the warmth and spirit of the original.
